EVENT DESCRIPTION

Over the last months, as the COVID-19 pandemic has ravaged across the world, volunteers have been at the forefront of medical, community and societal responses. Headlines in the world’s media have paid credit to volunteers for all kinds of work, from helping to provide medical care, to doing shopping for vulnerable neighbors, or checking up on elderly people living alone. The power of volunteers has been a key driving force in helping us deal with the pandemic.

Through the IVD celebration this year, the aim is to inspire people, whether they are decision makers or citizens of this world, to take action NOW for people and the planet. Volunteers have the power to engage communities and build a people-centric movement to help build a better and safer future for us all. We must take responsibility for the changes needed to build a better future now. Encouraging, recognizing and promoting volunteerism is an important part of creating a more equal and inclusive future for communities and worldwide.

The focus of the panel is to bring forward stakeholders to address how volunteering has been a key backbone in driving social change, especially in times of crisis like COVID-19 and is an essential for social, environmental and economic transformation. Broadly the panel will focus on SDG’s, COVID-19 crisis and the climate crisis to highlight the role that volunteering can play in achieving a better world. The panel will witness participation from NGO leaders, Employee engagement teams, Volunteers, and other stakeholders who can enrich the topic of discussion.
